To The Moon and Back

hello little darlings.

It's been a while, but I know you guys don't mind. I'm learning now more than ever how important it is to make time for yourself and your loved ones. I've been so busy lately and I haven't had a lot of time for myself let alone the people that I care about. let's all remember to try to take time out of this crazy holiday season to take care of ourselves and do what makes us happy. After all, our time is precious.

Sunday Morning

We've been blessed with some sun these past few days, so Patrick & I took it upon ourselves to go exploring in my neck of the woods on Long Island. I forgot that I have so many beautiful parks nearby that I frequented a lot during my childhood. We drove out to Heckscher State Park.

It was so nice coming here as an adult and remembering all the nice moments I had shared here with my family. It's so vast and full of life, it almost makes you feel like you're miles away from home.

Zou Bisou Bisou

hello little darlings, I hope you're all enjoying this lovely weather so far!

I'm afraid I've been so busy with new jobs and life happening that I haven't really been dressing up lately let alone photographing my looks, but I have so many new things I want to share with you!
I received these amazing dresses from UMGEE U.S.A., They're two very lovely shift dresses, & I'd always been afraid of shift dresses on me up until now.

The colors duke, the colors!
So my fears of looking like a sad fat girl wearing a sack went right out the door when I saw how flattering these dresses really are. The material is not thin at all feels so luxurious so it just flows on the body so so so nicely. Also I feel like a princess in them with the sleeves being so regal.
Megan Draper eat your heart out.

This barbie pink shift dress (WA9631 in Hot Pink) is evvvverrrryyythingggg. The color alone is perfection, but I love the strappy detailing on the back. It could be a very basic dress, but then it has the slits down the sleeves and the studs on the back. I'm all about the details!

I paired it with gold chain belt gifted to me from my mother, H&M heels and a Lux Deville purse.

This next shift dress (W8840 in Mint) is my favorite of the two because the color is one that I'm totally obsessed with. (remember when my hair was this color?) The bell sleeves with the eyelet detailing are so beautiful I could cry. I was feeling major Princess Jasmine vibes from this dress, hence the...all gold everything.

I paired it with a vintage gold belt, H&M necklace, and gifted beaded hoop earrings.

UMGEE is a wholesale clothing brand based out of L.A. with very modern & stylish designs for women in both straight and plus sizes! You can check out their clothes on their site, but they are sold in various shops such as Country Outfitter & Velvet Moon.

Warby Parker: Winter 2014 Collection

Hello there little darlings!

The colder months are finally here in NY and I am so excited to finally break out all my fall/winter clothes! Sweaters, beanies, peacoats, scarves, all that goodness!

Now, Warby Parker has reached out to me regarding their new Winter 2014 collection that has officially launched today! I've always passed by their stores in Manhattan and practically gawked in through their windows coveting their gorgeous glasses. You may have heard of them before, I actually read about them in Vogue last year! Way cool.

If you don't know who or what Warby Parker is, it's a really great socially conscious and affordable eyewear company that has set itself apart in the industry by designing beautiful high-quality frames at an affordable price. Also for every pair of glasses purchased, they donate a pair to someone in need that doesn't have the means of affording glasses. It never even occurred to me how much of a luxury glasses really are, something that's such a basic need for most people, and so many people don't have access to that! Whenever I can, I like to support companies with a good cause that are run by actual people you can get into contact with, who deeply care about their customers.

Their new winter collection features a mixture of stainless steel and acetate, combined with gorgeous new finishes on classic styles that will look great on just about anyone. Pearled tortoise shell, cool reflective blues, warm woodsy textures, there's something for everyone. Dress them up or down, these are seriously gorgeous.

I've put some fun looks together for you inspired by some of their new eyeglasses and sunglasses for their new Winter 2014 collection! For more info on the items featured, you can click on the images to go straight to my Polyvore.

This first pair has to be my favorite. I love vintage inspired frames, forever, always, till I die. These are the Holcomb eyeglasses in Pearled Tortoise. They are so gorgeous on their own that I would just wear them every day with my casual looks. Pair them with a simple cranberry floral print dress, a warm scarf & tights, your favorite flats, and a nice deep red lip color.

This next look is a very fun & festive one. I was really inspired by these Keene eyeglasses in Beach Glass (I love the name!). The color is so unique to me, it's not really a silver or a grey, but more like a reflective steel blue. They're so simple in silhouette but the color is so pretty that I wanted to play it up. Grab a sparkly dress, some glittery pumps, rhinestone accessories, and big fluffy lashes for a fun NYE look.

This last look is probably my favorite. It's part Margot Tenenbaum and part Penny Lane from Almost Famous. These Laurel sunglasses in Oak Barrel look GORGEOUS, seriously they are a dream and they give me so many feels. For a cozy boho look, pair them with a fuzzy suede jacket, paisley skirt, floral scarf and Jack Kerouac.

You can see the new collection over on the Warby Parker site, it's up now!

Cross my heart

Hey guys! Hope you're having an amazing start to the autumn season already!
There's so much I want to do in the next few months: pumpkin picking, harvest festivals, haunted houses, costume parties, halloween decorating, all kinds of festive things! It is, after all, my favorite time of year.

Since this weather is my favorite thing ever, I thought I'd come at you with a quick OOTD on basic pieces you can fill your wardrobe with for these still-warm-but-kinda-cool few months.

Dark Paradise

Guess it's full-on spook mode for Darshana.

Things are starting to cool down and sporting darker colors is pretty much expected of you. My inner goth will never disappear, it always resurfaces any time I see anything black, lacey, leathery, and covered in skulls. I just can't help myself.

Patrick & I took a trip down to an old cemetery in my hometown, one that I've always kind of been to scared to visit.

The trip ended up being a really calming experience. The rain from the previous days left the greenery looking lush, and the silence of the country was so peaceful and serene. It was also interesting to see how long this cemetery really has been around, there were tombstones there since the 1800s!

I was so excited to come across this dress. I've been so into maxi's lately and I feel with the right fit, a maxi dress accentuates curves in all the right ways. The sunglasses were also a great find, I've seen so many girls sporting shades like this at all the music festivals this summer.

The skull dress, cameo earrings and cut-out sunglasses are from Oasap, shoes are from Payless.

See you around my darlings

UMGEE U.S.A. Plus

Hey guys, hope you're all having an amazing summer!

I just got back from a mini vacation on the north shore, and I definitely feel like I'm coming back a fresher, more relaxed me. Now before I left, I was asked to be the Brand Ambassador for UMGEE U.S.A. 's Plus Size line! You have no idea how excited I am to be working with this company. I'm all for supporting companies with lovely products and especially ones that are so personable and that care so much about catering to all different sizes.

I couldn't wait to try on these clothes which is why I'm romping around on this beautiful private beach rocking some proper beach goth attire, sans shoes because I'm a rebel! Photos courtesy of my darling boyfriend who chose hanging out on the beach with me early in the morning over sleep ♥

A little bit about Umgee U.S.A., they are a wholesale clothing brand based out of L.A. with very modern & stylish designs for women of all ages (and all sizes!) You can check out their clothes on their site, but they are sold in various shops such as Country Outfitter & Velvet Moon.
For more info you can follow them here: facebook | instagram | twitter

Honestly, I was so surprised with how NICE the clothes feel! I chose the Rita Interlock Tank which is a gorgeous sheer black top with bright red stitching in the color.  I tucked it into a simple black stretch pencil skirt from Forever 21 to emphasize my silhouette and to give the top stitching a nice pop of color against all the black (Black on black on black everything please). This would also look super cute over some leggings for a simple and more relaxed look. My lipstick today is MAC Ruby Woo!

I paired it with the For-the-Love-of-Boho cardigan, which could even pass for a kimono (which are super trendy right now!) I love the long bell sleeves, they are giving me some AHS: Coven vibes, despite the boho style. Also, this cardi is SO soft!! I remember when I received it I couldn't stop rubbing my face on it, apparently I'm a cat sometimes. No scratchy cheap lace here!

Since I love my spooky chic/beach goth/coven realness, it's only fitting to pose alongside this Carcosa-esque tree branch art (True Detective, anyone?)

That's all for now, I'll catch you guys soon!

Chirp Chirp!

quick OOTD for you darlings! This dress seriously couldn't have come in the mail at a better time. New York is so rainy and dreary right now, and I'm dreaming of a warm tropical paradise! At least looking at all these bright birdies make me feel better. Also a good solid strappy sandal is always a summer essential for me!

All Eyes On Me

Hey bae's! I've been bad. And by bad I mean I haven't outfit photo'd for you guys in a while! WAMP.

Well here I am! That should count for something right? H'okay! Anyway, update time! Yeah my hair is blue now, and I kind of never want to go back to my natural color! I feel more confident and more like myself with the blue, which must sound really strange to you guys, but it's true!

I'm going to India next month which I'm pretty excited for! I will be traveling pretty much for the most of May, but I will try to update as much as I can I promise!

So obvi you guys should know I'm obsessed with Oasap by now, especially since I am actually able to squeeze my squishy self into their really funky clothes (which hardly happens with overseas brands let me tell ya). SO yeah, really satisfied with them, pretty much nothing bad to say about their clothes honestly! Good quality, reasonably priced. Also they have sales and tons of coupons all the time so you can get really good deals!

I received the Eye Short Sleeve Chiffon Blouse (which is unfortunately sold out at the moment but if you plug in your email they'll notify you when it's in stock again!) and the Pleated High Waist Pleuche Velvet Skirt in royal blue (which is on sale for only 10 bucks right now GO GO GO)

Darshana Hearts Ananasa: plastic pills

http://www.ananasa.com/stores/plastic-pills
One of my true joys in life is buying handmade. It's just such a good feeling knowing that you're spending your money supporting individuals/small businesses as well as knowing that you get to keep the fruits of someone's labor. That's a quality you can't manufacture.

Now, for those of you that haven't heard of it, Ananasa.com is an online marketplace where people from all around the world can easily shop handmade from the Middle East!

Sure here in America we'll find Middle Eastern/Arab "inspired" jewelry, clothing, or furniture, but it doesn't compare to the real thing. You are now able to shop directly from the source, and I think that's so amazing. It's also nice to be able to put a face (or faces) to the products that you're buying. I always love when my shopping experiences feel personal, not so robotic.

Now I wanted to spotlight a shop on Ananasa called plastic pills, which is run by designers Roanne and Dina in Beirut!

Their specialty is acrylic (and gold plated acrylic) statement jewelry! I've never heard of gold plated acrylic, but I'm intrigued. For me, plain acrylic jewelry can look kind of childish/cheap at times, but plastic pills necklaces have a certain regality about them. They're fun & cartoony, reminiscent of cut paper, but artfully designed and executed.

these are some of my favorite pieces.

Queen Bee ~ $30.00
perfect necklace to remind everyone who the real woman in charge is!

http://www.ananasa.com/roses-are-red.html

Roses are Red ~ $30.00
so beautiful, this reminds me so much of Beauty and the Beast

I'm looking forward to  seeing what else they come up with! Be sure to check out plastic pills here: ananasa.com/stores/plastic-pills, and all of the other wonderfully talented artisans and designers over on Ananasa.com

Take care ♡!

Born Pretty | Review + Coupon!

Hello little darlings ♥
I hope you're managing to keep warm during this icy winter here in the states. I've basically been snowed in for these past few weeks, but I'm so glad to share some FUN jewelry to share with you! Emphasis on fun!

The lovely people over at Born Pretty were kind enough to send me some of their jewelry to review for you guys! If you haven't heard of them, Born Pretty is an online Jewelry/Accessories shop with really trendy, great quality items at a really affordable price. Best of all it ships worldwide (fo free!), which I think is awesome because I know there are so many people who want to buy cute accessories that you can easily find here in the US, but it's either not available to them overseas or shops won't ship out to them!

Snow Bunny

Hello lovelies ♡
Happy winter! Sorry for the lack of posts here (as usual), I have been fighting off bronchitis this past month and around Christmas-time I lost my job due to a shutdown, so I haven't really been up for much lately. That being said, I feel so much better and in much better spirits these days, especially with the sun shining down on me today. Things are already getting better.

One of the few things style-wise that always makes me feel good is wearing white. That may be considered weird because I feel like wearing white is considered a "fashion faux pas" because it's considered a summer color (it's not a color though hi), but I don't care!

I feel like fresh white clothes just make you feel fresh and brighten up your skin tone (especially if you are tan or dark skinned, white looks amazing!) I also love hi-low dresses at the moment, because they're cute and give me coverage for my beee-hind. If you have a big butt you always kind of worry about your dress riding up and showing your buns to the world, or maybe that's just me?

Also up until now I've always been a pea coat gal during the winter time, because I feel like I look like a bean when I wear a coat that isn't tailored to my body, but it's been so painfully cold recently that I needed something better.  Like full on parka better. This coat is sooo warm, it has a fleece lining inside and a huge furry hood, the fur part is removable too! It also has drawstrings at the waist if you want a more snug fit.

dress ~ h&m
cardigan and headband ~ forever 21

coat ~ oasap

see ya next time!
